well, it could also apply to the late Soviet / US arms race as well. I guess it depends on the action and the threat.
On the theory of eliminating ALL Muslims (or) eliminating the BAD minority muslims as the only way to dispell the hate and general " Religious Killing Machines "... as some were eliminated, would it not fuel the remaining muslims to act on revenge ?? I think that would apply to any % of populous.
I have said for many years that we need to let loose our grip on Israel, and that it would bite us in the arse . THAT needs to happen yesterday..
On the subject of Turkey: The only reference I have is doing exercises with them in the Med in 1989'ish.. The control over the BAD Muslims and any separation of Religion and Govt. probably was a long process and probably took place under calmer conditions.. But I'm just speculating here.
