I think this is one of the last peaceful places to go that after such a contentious election for people with like interests to go and share stories assist and generally relax. Let keep at least this area of the board technical and all the other stuff on the other threads designated for that purpose. With that said, I don't see the connection between working on your own car and being a Republican.
I do it because 1) I have the ability 2) I love working on the Car and 3) I don't have a lot of money - and I'm Independent.
