Moses, my paternal grandfather died before I was born, but I was able to recently read his diary from during those war years, when he was stationed in Papua New Guinea, fighting the Japanese. He truly loved the Americans and was grateful for them being there. He was one of those guys who ran around with a camera (not a wartime photographer, just his hobby) and I've got an amazing album of postcard photos from the South Pacific theatre. I'll dig it out and scan a few shots in.
