I just had the oppurtunity to take apart a 2003 996 GT3 RS engine...The last people that turned a wrench on this engine was Porsche motorsports(or peter Dawe)..
the piston skirts seem to have been coated with "something"
the piston tops seem to have been coated with "something"
Thermal dispersants/barriers apparently do work.
I dont see any reason why coating the cylinders with thermal dispersant would hurt
