Just this afternoon, I held a 2003 996 GT3RS piston.. and compared it to an earlier cupcar piston.

The -03 GT3RS piston has some sort of coating on it!

This engine was from a car that ran the 24 hours of Lemans last year..

thermal barriers look evident, anti friction coatings are evident..

Someone someplace is applying these coatings..

I love to open up an engine, where the last people that touched it works in Weisach
