In fact, the US does get very involved in what goes on in Canada. Many of our policies, even laws, have been strongly influenced by US lobbying. It really can't be said that "we are not telling the Canadians to clean up their various messes around the country/world", if you are referring to things that go on INSIDE Canada.
Having said that, you make a very good point when in comes to Canada and other countries criticizing US actions. It's obviously WAY too easy for other countries to sit back and point the finger at the US. There's something that's always bugged me about the anti-american sentiment that's often vocalized in other western countries... The fact of the matter is that Canada and other Western countries don't have as many messes around the world, because they don't have the
power and reach to be as involved around the world. So, it's a lot easier to sit back and criticise than it is to be involved.
