Thought experiment: try to imagine if this were story of a former comrade of a Republican running for president in large part as a war hero. Can one honestly say this man would have any trouble being featured and feted on 60 Minutes and all other major media news shows and newspaper front pages and in Michael Moore's movie? Our interest in truth-tellers is commensurate with our interest in what truth we like to hear told.
