A friend of mine wants white face gauges for his 79SC. There are a number of overlay kits on the market. all priced around $150. These involve removing the gauge, popping the cover off, and then removing the needle to install the gauge overlay. Anybody out there ever tried this? Are special skills and tools involved, or is this within the ability of the home mechanic?

Also, North Hollywood speedometer offers gauge repaint for around $300. Is it worth the extra money?
