I sold my '88 Targa a few months ago, and had just about the same experience. The lowballers and Nigerian scam artists were out in force. But the ones that really get to me are the promisers. They drive the car, say they are extremely interested, and will come back tomorrow/call tomorrow/don't worry/it's a done deal. It's like they don't have the guts to just say "Thanks, nice car, but not for me."
If you want a real treat, try selling a car that appeals to the "youts." A couple years ago I sold a pristine, souped up 300ZX Twin Turbo. The thing did 0-60 in the high 4 second range, and test drives were interesting to say the least. Never again will I let a 22 year old stranger drive my cars....
