Dulse. Seaweed, which grows on the rocks between high and low tide (Up to 50 feet here around the Bay of Fundy). Dulse is sort of dark red-purple in color. Individual pieces are from 5 to 10 inches in length. After picking, it is spread to dry, then packed in sacks and delivered to grocery stores, or the harvester packs it in one pound bags himself for retail sale. It is of course, a bit salty.
