Or, 'why one should NEVER rely completely on a radar detector'. I was traveling down the Interstate the other day in the Cayenne. Traffic was extremely light, maybe 1-2 cars every mile of so. So I would sprint up to 120 or so between cars. I always slow down to 80 or so when I pass anybody. Then quickly sprint back up to speed. Anyway, this goes on for 15-20 miles when I notice a car 1-2 miles back is gaining on me .....

Hmmmm, am I imagining things or what. Detector is silent. So I keep watching and the car keeps gaining. Hmmm, maybe I better reign it in a bit here. So I slow down to 78 or so. The car is now gaining on me big time and it's the friggin' State Police. Crap! He pulls up next to me and slows down to match my speed. I finally glance over and the cop in the passenger seat is giving me the thumbs up!!! Then they floor it and they're gone.

I don't think they ever saw me going fast, just checking out the vehicle. Whew!
This is the 4th time I've gotten out of a big ticket with this thing. Once, a State cop nailed me with radar at 87MPH and let me go.
