Your car just wasn't registered for a number of years...or it was in nonoperational status...then it really is no big deal to bring the plates into active status...as it allready has an assigned set of plates.

YBG....would indicate 1968 as the year of issuance...the Black plates were issued from 1962 through 1969 .....AAA000 through ZZZ999. In 1962 the State recalled the Yellow and Black plates, replacing them on existing cars with the Black Plates...thats why you don't see any fifties cars with Yellow Plates....

I have the orginal Black Plates on my Mustang...I keep that car registered and insured in CA as I don't want to lose the Plates...even though I live here in LV...
