MSD vs. Permatune
my intermittent problem of the engine cutting out while driving (accompanied by a jerky RPM meter) has led my mechanich to believe (over the phone) that the problem is either in the distributor (points), or the ignition unit...
the dis cap and points/rotor were just replaced, so unless another adjustment will do the trick, we're on to the ignition unit...
i know that some of this has been covered somewhere here, but one more time: if i have a choice of spending $280 on a permatune unit, or $380 on an MSD unit (and i don't mind spending the extra $100 unless they are a complete waste of money), are there any downs to going with MSD?
