be sure you have the right bearing, there are two in the 915 that appear interchangable, but are not, I did swap thiem in error and my gears mismatched until I got it sorted, I do not remember the problem you are describing, but it does not sound right.
The ID and OD of the two bearings are the same, but the stack height is not.
