I think this situation underscores a much larger point.
When the owners were talking about how the car was returned: i.e. no backup lights, no shift indicator, no antenna etc. It really gets me thinking... These shows are all about the bling. All about the cool flashy parts. It can be compared to the import tuner crowd in that "bolt on" is the word of the day. The fact that these guys take a car and "attempt" to restore it in 7 days is ridiculous. It's not possible. I bet you a months pay they cut many more corners than were taped and aired. In the wife's remarks she mentioned they somehow crimped a brake line while installing the exhaust system. That's just plain ignorant!

This crosses over into other forms of entertainment... While You Were Out, Trading Spaces, Pimp My Ride, Monster House (that one gives me the creaps) etc. When things are rushed I can only imagine the resulting screwups and sloppy work left behind after the cameras are turned off.

But, it's ok... you Fly... you got a 42" Plasma screen TV in the trunk of your Fiesta or a cell phone launcher in the center console of your Escort. That's where it's at!
