A couple of years ago the apartment / housing industry was scared into thinking mold was right up there with anthrax, and insurance companies were all going to go broke tearing down half the country's buildings.
False alarm.
While there are some people who are at risk of illness from mold, like what was already stated, squirting it with bleach is all that is needed.
