Yeah, I acknowledge 944 owners, and even have a friend who is a 924 owner (ok, ok, maybe just an aquaintance..heheh).

Not many of them return the acknowledgement it has to be said. I think that for the greater part they seem to blend into motoring mainstream more than the 911 bunch. Maybe they do think that we're snobs, after all it was 911 owners -previously 356- who started the myth that they were the only real Porsches (no intention of of opening that can of worms believe me)and maybe we're reaping the fallout from that.

Sorry to keep telling 'road stories', but I just remembered an occasion recently when I was sandwiched in between a 928 (front) and a 944 Turbo (behind). I thought it was a bit of fun and stuck in the convoy for a while. We cruised at similar speeds, but every now and then the 928 would bury his pedal for a couple of secs and waited to see if we would follow. Then the 944 guy would do the same from behind. Eventually we each started to jostle for the lead (still staying within the speed limit, sane but calculated manoeveures)and must have looked like those indoor track cyclists swooping and gliding.

I mention this because at no time did the other two look across at me and acknowledge what we all knew we were doing. I was digging it and having a laugh to myself, and seeing the expression on other motorists faces....they could ALL see it. Eventually we all went our separate ways, but I couldn't help feeling a sense of pity that we wern't all sharing a Porsche moment, merely an ego one. Money had nothing to do with it as we all had similarly valuable cars, just different expressions of an idea.

I'll stand by my belief that my idea was best though (of course). !!
