I used to flash (the fog lights) during the day in my 944, but since I removed them, I can only get a wave out... I was fortunate enough to talk to a 993 Twin Turbo, a Boxter S, and a 911 SC owner. On each occasion we pulled over at the next gas station, ice cream shop whatever. I must say I felt good about the loyalty for Porsche, and the general appericiation of fine engineering, and all the effort that went into these cars.

I recall on one occasion when I waved at a 911 owner, and he could only get two fingers up from his hand to wave back, and this was at a parking lot, at speeds of about 10mph. Ofcourse that was not so pleasant.

Mostly from the watercooled owners I get something more like, where do you get your car serviced, who's your mechanic and the like, than nice car, or another way of letting each other know we appericiate these cars. I had a woman just stare at me, after I stopped at a gas station, and she was filling up her, what seemed to be identical to mine, 944, color, rims and all.

In general, I'd say the 911 people are a little more aware of what's going on around them, since most watercooled owners don't quite feel strongly about driving a Porsche. I on the other hand, realize how superior Porsches really are to cars from their era, and have so much more charm, and character, and are beginning to stand out in todays bland grocerry getters.

I've heard that most 911 owners are snobs all over, but this has not been my experiance on the road, however I do not know how to comment after some comments I've received at this board. (regardless of if I deserved it or not).

Enjoy your Porsches, and flash at your fellow Porsche drivers on the road!

This is a PCA member, soon to club race his 944 speaking! (My first auto-x coming in 26 days now, thanks to some advice I've received here as well ).
