An optometrist can help you with peripheral vision. I always look. Learn the boundaries of the vehicle first. A glance doesn't mean being sure. Get used to seeing a$$clowns moving around, while looking over both shoulders. My eye contacts hinder peripheral vision, I only wear them at night while diving.
