Not easily done. The heavy '75 and '76 bumpers had the federally mandated "bumper shocks" mounted behind them. They crossed through the frame and mounted under the trunk in the rear, and just inside the front trunk (by the headlight motors) in the front of the vehicle.

Up to '74 they just mounted on the header panels in the front and rear of the vehicle, with a little rubber pad between the body and the bumper itself.

I suppose it could be done, but would probably be a job. One thing to keep in mind is that the bumpers up to 74 had little rubber strips at the top that are getting to be pretty expensive. Available still, but expensive. I hear that the aftermarket strips don't have the best quality either.
