I had the opportunity to meet HST when he did a speaking engagement at UGA 20+ years ago. As I went up front after he was finished, he was pouring one of the largest single drinks I have ever seen a man consume (a very tall tumbler nearly full of Wild Turkey with just a "hint" of some kind of cola). I had a football with me at the time and he, one of my buddies, and I ended up tossing it around the auditorium for awhile. Got him to sign it and still have it here on the shelf.
The Proud Highway was the last thing I read of his. Normally, I wouldn't like to read a collection of someone's correspondence, but much of it was pretty entertaining.
