I did a similar conversion a few years ago (front: 993 calipers w/930 rotors). I don't know if you can use the 993 rotors. My setup would not fit under the stock 16" wheels but it would (barely) fit in 944 Turbo wheels and I expect it would work with other post '86 944 wheels. (A Design 90 would require spacers to get the correct offset.)
The 993 calipers were not the most expensive part of the project so even if you get them for free you are still looking at substantial investment.
