Just remember that the French Vichy régime (Nazi collaborators) of WWII split Syria up and invented Lebenon. Christian minorities were able to make up about half of the newly formed country.

There is this thing called history...........complex it is.

and in June 1976 the Maronite-dominated government asked for support from Syria.

Note: Maronite means lebanese Christian. Yep, it's a complex situation historicaly.
