I use the "slow" approach in the way that maximizes a car's use. If you have a used Skyline or something, give it some power and tires and use it in every race that you can. That means enter it in the Japanese races, in the beginner races, in Professional races, 4WD races etc etc. That way you don't end up buying a new car for each race. W/ a Miata you can use it in Spyder/Roadster races, One Make (Miata) races, as well as Front Engine RWD races... etc.

Most of the time, the car you get as a prize you will need later on too. It may not be ideal, but it beats spending more $$.

Selling the big $$ prize cars is fun too. Quick way to make cash, just make sure you have a capable car to win.
