Hey, Tony I just went through the same drill.
I had a key with remote and a valet key only.
I tried all the stuff and ended up at Porsche. Leaving Porsche I was $307 lighter on the hip, but I did have the extra key.
The service manager told me there are three slots to program for keys, so he needed my original and my valet so he did not screw it up to where the valet key would not work. It could be programmed on slot 2 or slot 3.
So take your valet key with you when you go.

There may be a way around it, but I certainly did not find it.
