I think the 2.7 litre '89 944 8-valve cars have parity with the early 944 8-valves and the 924S because the slight extra output of the 2.7 should essentially make up for the weight differential.

Having had both a 924S and an '89 944, I have to say that I like the '89 more. Mainly because the vents actually work and my knee never hits the steering wheel of the 944.

Now, that's not to say that the 924S wasn't a complete blast.
