While exercise is good (and I'm an avid weight lifter), if you do the math, it's not the greatest way in the world to lose weight. You have to burn 3500 calories or so to lose one pound of weight. Hop on an elliptical trainer and see how long it takes you to burn 3500 calories. I enjoy pain as much as the next guy, but I'd be looking at 4 or 5 hours on an elliptical trainer to lose 1 pound...

I was probably taking in 3500-4000 calories a day at 235 and I simply cut that back to 1500 or so (which is still a decent amount of food, really) and I was losing about a pound every two days.

It takes will-power, for sure, but once you get started, it's not that bad.
