I agree and support their rights to demonstrate, though "apple pie" doesn't come to mind when I recall my experiences with them. They congregate twice a year on my block (Sunset and Orange, one of the official assembly points), which the police close for several hours, to whip themselves up to a frenzy for what have to be among the largest and ugliest protests in the nation. You have not seen public nastiness until you you have seen these people in action. Nonetheless I support it, them, the whole mess. In the nation of their Leftist wish fulfillment, they, or their counterparts in that event, would be jailed or worse for their displays of anti-government fervor. I support them not least because I feel they cannot help but lose public sympathy every time they appear with their numbing profanities, crude and scatological posters, and aggressive taunts to the military recruiters, who come out of their offices with looks of bewilderment at this strange varlatry of viciousness.
I may again roam among them with my American flag pin and trusty K9 (for protection!), winning dirty looks for being the crypto-fascist neocon burgermeister that I so clearly am. So far I haven't had much luck engaging them in conversation. They are all wound up with hate.
