Statistical baloney.
This particular stat has been thrown around for years. However one advocacy group actually dug into these numbers.
Turns out the majority of these "increased" fatalities were on roads that had speed limits of LESS THAN 45MPH! In other words, yeah, the deaths got higher, but NOT ON THE HIGHWAYS!
