Joe, just go to the site above and follow the instructions. I think the programmer simplified the copying process so that it is easier than the older methods and FREE.
Am VERY familiar with computers and the drive was formatted using NTFS (w2000) then did it using the CD so assume it was reformatted.
There is a warning at the very end of Hinsdale instructions that states
"I have Windows NT/2000/XP: Do not boot into Windows NT/2000/XP with your original TiVo drives attached as a signature can be attached to the drive that will corrupt your TiVo drive."
So my new drive never saw XP. I installed it and booted directly into MFS tools
Did you backup your orginal drive first and if so how? Work OK?
I backed it up using step 7 of the instructions. There are two kinds of backs up. 1. Your personal Tivo box settings with all your serial numbers and 2. Your tv shows.
I backed up my personal settings onto my PC and then I copied my small hard drive completely onto the new one.
If you want to keep both your old drive and the new drive, you first need to open up your box and see if you need a mounting bracket. Some of the Tivo units already have them. My Directivo didn't. Then you need to follow the Hinsdale instructions that matches your hardware configuration... ie 1 or 2 drives, copy old shows or start fresh etc.
Thanks for the help, need more room on my Tivo!
