This has been a big issue of mine for a long time. When the religious zealots decided to politicize the anti-abortion crusade they left the democratic party, where most had been for generations, and tried to convert the meaning of conservative to equal religious fanatic. THe best definition I've ever heard of conservative is Thomas Jefferson's statement of "Your right to swing your arm stops where my nose starts."

Now we have the Deaniacs running the Democrat party & the religious fanatics running the Republican party. We need another party for people who think that we don't need govenment to solve all our problems and that they shouldn't take so much of our money. The common sense party?
