Rear Bilsteins on a '72...need help

I finally got around to my shock install. I had a problems with the rears. They came out very easily (original Bilstein), but when I went to put in new Bilstein HD's, the lower shock bushing was for a M12, but my bolt was a M14. According to Bilstein part numbers, I have the correct shock. What's up?? Drilling it out is not an option. The wall thickness of the metal bushing looks too thin.

The fronts fit just fine. I have Boge housings and removed, to my suprise, Koni inserts....which were shot. Now I'm at "rally car" height which needs to get fixed, but I want to install the rears first.

I couldn't find an answer searching, but I'm guessing I'm not the first guy to experience this.
