You went to see a dog that just had puppies and you are surprised that the dog bit you? I'm not. I don't want to imply that animals with litters are inherently predisposed to bite but the basic instinct to protect is a hard to control and you can't really blame the dog.

The foot bite was a warning that you should have paid attention to. The dog was just trying to get you away from its litter. If that dog was serious about wanting to hurt you you'd be in a lot worse shape.

Sucks that it happened to you. I hope you feel better.
