future collectable Japanese cars - Which would you pick?
I am in a predicament and I'd like to ask this forums opinion on what I should do.
I have decided to keep the 911 even though I do not have much time/funds for it at the moment. After all I've always wanted one.
My other daily driver car is a '85 MR2. It is not currently on the road and sitting beside the 911. I've had this car for 10 years and really like it.
My father has a cherry '84 RX7 GSL SE that he wants to sell to me. This car is a 2 owner 60k mile gem that has not a spec of rust on it ever and is in almost mint shape, having never been driven in foul weather.
I do not think I can buy the RX7 and keep the MR2 both as the Mrs. does not see a purpose of me having 2 cars let alone three.
To me, the MR2 and or RX7 each have some collectible status in my mind because they were some of the most desirable cars of my generation (other than exotics of course).
The RX7 is in better overall shape with 40k less miles than the MR2 but both cars drive and run well. The MR2 fits my frame better and is more comfortable. Both look good and are fun to drive buy the RX7 has dreadful tractor like steering.
Which would you keep? Or should I just forget the sentimental attachment, sell the MR2 and put 4k into the 911??
