To me, a future collectible isn't necessarily the rarest, or the cool, unique one year model.
Look at the best example going--American muscle cars. The main driver to prices and demand there is lust. What car did the wealthy 50-something guy dream about when he was a kid? I never wanted a Mustang or Chevelle SS, so I don't get that whole scene. I'm 37, so I discovered cars in the early '80s. I wanted a 911 or 928, a VW GTI, a 308GTSi, a 300ZX, etc.
In ten more years, I think a lot of people will be amazed at what my generation will pay any price at Barrett-Jackson to own.
