Some accidents do require that someone is punished for their negligence but then again we don't have too many people calling for banning assault booze and vehicles because of the actions of the irresponsible.

To add to that, did anyone else catch the tragic story of the young man that was beaten to death at a Pony League game over the weekend? It seems another young man flew into a fit of rage and clobbered him with a bat. Two families have been devastated. It is being approached as a problem with the kid who wielded the bat, not the bat he wielded. This is as it should be. We are surrounded by potentially deadly weapons in our day-to-day lives. When one is miss-used as such, the normal response is to go after the person that chose to use it against another person. We only see the additional charges leveled against the inanimate object if it happens to be a gun.
