I really am sorry for the temporary thread-hijack... I hope I'm not offending anyone... if my question takes more than one message to clear up, I'll make my own thread.. just thought this is about paint, so I might as well keep it here..

well, I've never painted a car before so I'm clueless... for example, I called up maaco to get an idea of their prices, and they range from 600-1300.... I know it's easy to say "just look at what you get with the packages", but the problem is I dont know what I'm looking for within the packages itself..
take maaco, just for example.. They have 4 packages which range from a "High grade automotive enamel" to "base coat, clear coat, urethane" and 2 in between..

I guess my question is - I have a couple stone chips and scratches in my car.. I'd like to get it painted... it's silver now, I'd like black... so if I wanted to go that route, what should be included in the package for me? I'd ask the guys at whatever shop I go to, but as sales people, they're job is to tell me what I need plus what I dont.. lol
