If she is the woman for you, then the cost of the ring is really irrelevant, assuming that you can afford it. So if you are sure about her then let the car sit a while.
The other question here is whether the 'things' are ever going to stop. Is this ring just the 'thing' that she wants now and will she want something else in six months. If all you are to her is a source of things then get in that car and lay rubber!
