Alan, you can make a template very easily. I don't have a picture handy.
I assume you have the new oil tank. Use a section of cardboard and cut a hole that just fits over the filler neck and filter. place the rubber seal on the tank. place the cardboard on top of the seal. Push down on the two mounting studs to mark the location. This should puncture the cardboard and hold it in place. Trace the outside of the seal onto the cardboard. Remove cardboard and seal from the tank. Place the cardboard on a flat surface and retrace the seal if you missed a spot. Remove the seal and draw a new line 1cm in from the outside edge (NOTE: I think the lip area on the seal is 1cm. YOu may have to adjust the dimensio). Finish cut the new inside line. Template is complete.
Now place the template on the fire wall inside the engine bay. Push two bolts through the template at oil tank stud locations. These bolts will hole the template onto the tub and locate the cute. Adjust any edges so the template sits flat on the fire wall. Trace your new hole. Cut with body saw or other. Check the fit of the seal. There will be a small overlap with the 71 oil filter. The seal should cover this hole.
Best of luck.
