Since you are tearing the engine down all the way, there isn't any need for all of the precautions to preserve cam timing that it always assumed on a tensioner replacement job! Just get a big, 18" Craftsman screwdriver and pry until there is 0.1" or more clearance at the tip of the tensioner piston rod, pull out the body, having removed the 13 mm nut and washer beforehand.
