Used to fly down there years ago. Nice place but can be expensive. Take the phone number to the US Embassy "just in case" and photocopy your passport.
Buy some lomotil at the local drugstore and do not drink the water (beer is just fine) and remember that the ice there has the same critters in it that make you sick.
Have fun and use a "raincoat" if needed...
