We usually stay at the Monterey Plaza Hotel. It is just down the street from the aquarioum and near Fishermans Wharf. There is a really nice walking/biking path running along the water that goes right by the hotel. The dining area looks out over the bay and you can usually see sea otters and seals during your meals. Good luck.
