You are thinking of some of the new cars on the market, I've seen the adds where the car even comes with an Ipod.

Alot of aftermarket radios have some form of auxiliary input, but it depends on the make and model.

Pioneer's require an external device that plugs in through the changer port, and allows you to hook up through RCA cables. Some Sony's also require this form of adapter.

Alot of other manufacturers just use a mini mic plug that is likely just like the mic jack on the Ipod.
