Ling cod are nasty critters. They kept three of them in the aquarium where I lived in CA fenced off from the shark tank.
The divers would jump into the shark tank to fix stuff, but no one would go near the Lings.
One time some sort of very expensive little fish (that sharks didn't care for I guess) jumped the fence onto the wrong side. I saw pictures of the incident, there was so much thrashing and stuff that it was almost all just bubbles and churned water in the little pen. Of course, no one would go get it, but the little guy managed to jump back over and escape.
I think two of them were about 60#s and the other was 40ish. And they were all mean as hell.
A friend and I snagged one when we were about 13-14 years old and wrestled it up to the top of the water, but the line broke. I'm not sure what we would have done if we would have got it in the boat, his dad probably would have laughed as it thrashed around and beat the snot out of us.
