Need for Speed - Texas Style
To all you top-end, high power junkies out there! You'all have probably heard of the Pony Express - a high MPH closed course event run on public roads. The object is to run the ~90 mile course at an average speed matching that of the class you are entered. Kind of like top end bracket racing. Anyway, I got a note from the American Road Rally Association inviting our local PCA to the Big Bend Open Poad Race on April 4-7, 2001. The race will be run on US Hwy 285 between Ft.Stockton and Sanderson, TX, a distance of 59 miles each way. Clubs can compete between themselves and other clubs. Classes range from 85mph to 185mph and unlimited. If any one is interested I can give you the info for contact. BTW - the unlimited class has been owned for the last decade by a supercharged Pantera that averages better than 220mph!
So strap on that extra Carrera cooler and blast over to Texas! And Warren - get rid of those 7:31 gears! HA HA HA !!!!
