Jony,
Here we go again. I have a couple of points I'd like to make regarding modifications to the Boxer motor. Actually to any motor.
Porting is all well and good. If you know the guy and he really understands his craft, he will recommend some cam profiles that will work with his stuff, or he can port to match a particular cam profile. The two are so intertwined in the way a motor works as to be inseperatable. Drag race motors are easy, something that will provide a broad spread of torque and a HP profile that is not like an anal probe is a bit toughter.
Some ohter considerations when taking the conventional path to HP. How is the cooling system to handle the added heat? Is fuel available to handle the higher compression? Got chip? That new chamber will need a different ignition map as well as another fuel profile. That big bore kit effectively created a new combustion chamber profile with a different squish band. How about the intake tract and the exhasut system. Can they handle the added gas flow? Will there be added gas flow? Where in the RPM band will it be and how will the rest of the range be effected. Will the new ports do great wide open at 11" of depression but puddle fuel and die at 22" depression and closed throttle?
There is no magic bean! It takes a bunch of experience and hard won knowledge to build a really good street motor. You stray too far from the stock configuration at your peril. A nice cammed, ported, chipped, piped, big bored and ducted 1100S is still gonna spend a lot of time looking at a Mille's tail pipe.
Sorry for the wet blanket. All this speculation is fun. If I were of a mind to build a HiPo S, I'd likely leave it to a pro like Chris. Kenny Augustine might know as much about port shape and chamber configuration as any living human. A supplicant might be able to get him to do so work on a set of heads. Fellla by the name of Hines does a fair bit of that kinda stuff as well. In both cases, they have so much work for their regular customers it wiould be really difficult (expensive) to get them to evne look at a set of BMW heads.
I think I mentioned before that until the throttle bodies inlets are outside your foot and the exhausts are pointing at the parked cars, this head is never gonna breath like an Aprilla or Honda or Ducati or Suzuki twin head. It just can't.
Ed
