My wife & I did the dual career thing for 25 years or so, she as a teacher, I was a manager/sales rep for a dairy. Downsizing came along, with a nice package for me.
Now, she is the bread winner, I am the bread-baker. Through the winter, I keep house & look after the animals, (her horses, dogs & cats). In the summer, I work part time at the Annapolis Royal visitor information center & tidal power plant, as a guide. (By the way, if you make it to Nova Scotia, drop in at the only tidal power generating plant in North America. Look for the older guy, with gray hair. I'll show you around and have a great time explaining the place.)
The new arrangement has worked out well. I have almost no stress in my life, (she brings home enough for both of us), and have been able to take over the house so she doesn't have to worry about that.
I couldn't have handled it 25 years ago, but now, its great.
