Question 944 aftermarket

ok as you all know, there isnt a whole lot of aftermarket options for a 944, so what me and my friend did is build a cold air intake from scratch (almost scratch) i put it in, sounds great, runs nice, seems to be more responsive then the old air box, only thing that happened was about 30 min after installed and had the car running, i turned the throttle valve to hear that nice suction noise one more time, and it sounded like firecracker went off, i thought to myself "OH #@$%" but after that, everything was normal, drove about 50 miles since its been on, and seems great, could this be something wrong or what? i have no clue where the noise came from as it startled me and i was too "woahed" to notice what area it came from, but i just took pictures today and ill put them up once i get them loaded onto my computer, i just wanted to know what you guys think, im doin everything i can to get every bit of power i can out of my car, i just got fr wilks adaptor board (getting installed tomorrow) but no power prom yet (no money) but after that the next mods to come are bursch headers and exhaust
