I guess it all depends on how mature your child is and if you want to introduce him to the idea that bad $hit happens early via science fiction.

I was really weirded out by watching deliverance when I was pretty young but I think that young people don't need to be insulated from everything that may shock or upset them.

Just look at how gruesome grimm's fairy tales were in attempting to entertain and teach our children.
