Though I think these plastic bushings are the spawn of the devil, if you absolutely insist on installing them:
Use a metal lathe. It's the only way to size them and keep them round.
For the outer bushing, press it into the cover plate then turn the ID to size. this way the bushing will assume the distortion introduced by the cover plate BEFORE you machine it. Unfortunately, you can't do that for inner bushing.
Forcing them in without custom sizing is going to cause pinching, binding and a suspension that doesn't want to move. You'll be hating life.
